CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. — The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office reported a series of major drug arrests following proactive enforcement efforts in the area. Sheriff Matt Gentry praised deputies for their commitment to keeping the community safe.
On December 26, Nathan Whitfield, 42, of Vinemont, was arrested during a traffic stop. Whitfield, who had active warrants, was found with methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. He faces charges including trafficking/possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.
The next day, deputies stopped a vehicle on I-65 northbound, leading to the arrest of Albert Dragon, 42, of Falkville. Dragon, also with active warrants, was found with fentanyl and charged with possession with intent to distribute and related offenses.
On December 28, a traffic stop on County Road 222 resulted in the arrest of Leann Elizabeth Finchum, 32, of Mt. Olive. Deputies discovered trafficking-level amounts of fentanyl and distribution-level methamphetamine. Finchum faces charges of trafficking fentanyl and unlawful distribution of methamphetamine.
Sheriff Gentry said, “These arrests are not out of the ordinary—this is the work our deputies do every day. Proactive enforcement like this happens daily in Cullman County, and we will continue to aggressively target those who bring illegal drugs into our communities.”
