CULLMAN, Ala. — A Cullman Police Department officer has been arrested on a domestic violence charge, officials confirmed.
On February 16, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Cullman officers were dispatched to a residence on Scenic Drive regarding an incident. Following their investigation, authorities determined there was probable cause to make an arrest.
Officer Roy Bates, employed as a Lake Patrol Officer with the Cullman Police Department, was charged with Domestic Violence, Third Degree, in violation of Alabama Code 13A-6-132.
Police Chief Joey Duncan confirmed that Bates has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation. No further details regarding the incident have been released.
