A shocking revelation has emerged in the Rs13 lakh cash theft at the CTU cash branch, Sector 17 bus stand, Chandigarh. Police sources said the accused, CTU sub-inspector Ved Pal (45), transferred the stolen money to Sonipat via his nephew, Prashant. The UT Crime Branch has left for Sonipat to trace the funds.

The duo was arrested a day earlier in connection with the robbery. Ved Pal works in the CTU workshop, Industrial Area Phase-1, while his nephew, Prashant, is a native of Sonipat district, Haryana, and resides in Sector-27, Chandigarh.

According to the complainant, Pradeep Kumar, a cashier in the CTU department, the theft occurred during the night shift. Security guard Gaurav Rawat, on duty in room number 83 at ISBT-17, reported that around 3:30 am, a man dressed like a police officer with his face covered gained entry by claiming he was investigating illegal activities in the record room.

Following the intruder’s instructions, Rawat unlocked the record room. The accused then locked Rawat inside and accessed the cash branch, stealing Rs13,13,710 using the locker key. The crime was discovered around 4:30 am by conductor Sushila Devi, who freed the security guard.

A complaint was filed at Sector 17 Police Station, and the crime branch continues its investigation into the case.
