HERRIN, Ill. (KBSI) — Two women were taken into custody Tuesday night after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies discovered methamphetamine and other controlled substances during a late-night traffic stop in Herrin.
Deputies stopped a vehicle around 11:39 p.m. on Sept. 30 near Poplar and 13th Streets after observing multiple traffic violations. The driver was identified as Crystal D. Wagner, and the passenger as Carrie A. Palmer, according to the sheriff’s office.
A K-9 unit responded to the scene, where K-9 Roxy alerted deputies to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of methamphetamine, Schedule II and IV controlled substances, drug packaging materials with residue, and a glass smoking device that tested positive for meth.
Carrie Palmer was arrested on charges of:
Possession of methamphetamine (Class 3 felony)
Possession of a controlled substance (Class 4 felony)
Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor)
Illegal transportation of alcohol (petty offense)
Failure to wear a seat belt (petty offense)
Crystal Wagner was charged with:
Possession of adult-use cannabis in a motor vehicle (Class A misdemeanor)
Disobeying a stop sign (petty offense)
Failing to signal (petty offense)
Operating an uninsured motor vehicle (business offense)
Both suspects were booked into the Williamson County Jail.
