GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Two West Fargo residents are facing multiple felony drug charges following a months-long undercover investigation by the Grand Forks Narcotics Task Force.
Crystal Gayle Marie Mapel, 46, and Jamey Scott Rice, 50, were charged in separate but related cases involving methamphetamine transactions between September and October.
Mapel faces three felony charges:
Delivery of methamphetamine (50 grams or more)
Conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine
Possession with intent to manufacture or deliver methamphetamine
Rice faces two Level B felony charges for delivery of methamphetamine.
Court documents show the charges stem from four separate incidents involving a confidential informant. On September 23, the informant coordinated a purchase in which Rice delivered approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine in exchange for $160, with Mapel present.
On October 9, the informant arranged to buy approximately one half-pound (229 grams) of methamphetamine from Mapel for $2,600 in Grand Forks.
A traffic stop on Mapel’s vehicle on October 17, near mile marker 129 on Interstate 29, led officers to recover a used meth pipe and about 29.5 grams of methamphetamine, which Mapel admitted to possessing. Authorities noted that the quantity exceeded typical user amounts, indicating intent to sell.
Both Mapel and Rice are currently in custody at the Grand Forks County Corrections Center.
