Warren County, N.Y. — A North Creek woman has been charged with stealing thousands of dollars in public assistance benefits, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Crystal La Fountain, 47, was arrested on December 8, 2025, and faces charges of Grand Larceny in the third degree and Welfare Fraud in the third degree, both classified as class D felonies.
Investigators said the Warren County Department of Social Services Fraud Investigations Unit determined La Fountain failed to report her household’s total income when applying for SNAP benefits. This omission allegedly resulted in an overpayment of $4,230 in benefits she was not entitled to receive.
Authorities say the case underscores ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and prevent misuse of public assistance programs.
