A Conway, South Carolina woman, Crystal Ann Vause, 34, was arrested on May 27, 2024, on charges of domestic abuse and resisting arrest. The arrest followed two separate domestic violence incidents earlier in the week.

Horry County officers responded to a domestic violence call on Landmark Road, where the victim reported that Vause punched him in the face and poured bleach on him after he exited the shower. The victim’s face showed signs of injury, with redness and swelling, and officers noted a “heavy odor of bleach” on his person. A witness confirmed the victim’s account of the attack. Vause fled the scene before police arrived.

Two days later, officers were called to a domestic violence incident in progress on Wayside Road. Vause initially claimed that the victim refused to take her to her mother’s house and that no physical altercation occurred. However, the victim told police that Vause had thrown bleach in his face, struck him in the eye, and grabbed him by the neck.

When officers attempted to arrest Vause, she managed to slip out of her handcuffs and fled into the house, then attempted to escape out the back door. A police chase ensued, and she was apprehended approximately 70 yards from the house.

Vause was booked at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Her criminal history includes two prior convictions for domestic violence in 2018 and 2022.
