VASS, N.C. — A Vass man was arrested Tuesday after a child sexual exploitation investigation led authorities to his home on Jolinda Road, according to the Moore County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Ronnie Fields said the operation took place on August 12, with assistance from the NC State Bureau of Investigation’s Cyber Crimes Unit. The investigation was initiated by a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Forensic specialists served a search warrant at the residence, where evidence led to the arrest of Craig May, 47. He is now facing:
Five counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor
Five counts of felony third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor
May was booked into the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for September 11 in Moore County District Court.
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office is an active member of the North Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which works to combat the online exploitation and abuse of minors.
Authorities remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
