DAYTON, Ohio — On Thursday morning, 33-year-old Courtney Lowe was arraigned in court and pleaded not guilty to a series of serious charges, including six counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault related to serious physical harm, and two more counts of felonious assault involving a deadly weapon.
Lowe’s bond was set at $900,000 cash.
Lowe’s indictment stems from the deaths of 64-year-old Cathy Bell and her 67-year-old husband, Danny Bell, whose bodies were discovered on December 3 in their Holly Avenue home. Authorities initially responded to a report of a suspicious person on Wayne Avenue and found Lowe walking barefoot and wearing only a t-shirt and thermal underwear. Prosecutors allege that Lowe was covered in blood and confessed that the blood belonged to Cathy Bell.
Upon further investigation, law enforcement discovered the bodies of the Bells inside their home, both having been beaten to death. Lowe has been indicted on multiple charges:
Six counts of Murder
Two counts of Felonious Assault (serious physical harm)
Two counts of Felonious Assault (deadly weapon)
Lowe remains in the Montgomery County Jail under a $1 million cash bond. He is set for a further hearing in the coming days.
