Alachua County deputies have arrested 46-year-old Cory Allen Robinette on charges of domestic battery with a prior conviction and domestic battery by strangulation.
According to the arrest report, the victim told authorities she had brought Robinette food and cigarettes before taking a nap at his residence. She awoke to Robinette accusing her of stealing his prescription medications—Suboxone and Valium. When she denied the accusation and tried to return to sleep, the situation escalated.
Robinette allegedly pushed her to the ground and began choking her to the point she couldn’t breathe. The victim managed to push him off, at which point he reportedly tore her dress. She fled the scene and flagged down a High Springs Police Department officer for help.
Deputy Skyler Lawson initially attempted to contact Robinette without success, but later that same day, she returned and placed him under arrest.
Records show Robinette has a prior battery conviction from 2011. He is currently being held in the Alachua County Jail with bond set at $70,000.
