A Wilmar man, Corey Sanders, 26, was arrested following a high-speed chase that ended with a crash and a foot pursuit on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

The Drew County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a domestic disturbance with gunfire at an apartment complex on Highway 425 South. Officers from the University of Arkansas at Monticello Police Department also arrived due to their close proximity.

While en route, deputies spotted a vehicle linked to the incident. When they attempted to stop the car, the driver fled at high speeds, eventually crashing on Jordan Drive. Sanders then fled on foot.

K-9 Aiko, along with his handler Sgt. Austin, assisted in the search. Sanders was quickly found and apprehended with the help of Sgt. Austin and Deputy Jaden Richardson.

Sanders now faces multiple charges, including Felony Fleeing, Driving While Intoxicated, and Refusal to Submit to Test. During his first court appearance on September 8, Judge Robert Gibson set his bond at $50,000 commercial.
