PLANO, Texas — Two Dallas men have been convicted of federal drug trafficking charges in the Eastern District of Texas, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Corey Buchea Grant, 31, and Calvin Autae Thompson, 36, were found guilty by a jury on November 3, 2025, of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin and crack cocaine following a six-day trial before U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan.
Court evidence revealed that Grant operated a “trap house” in East Dallas, managed by Thompson, where heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, and fentanyl-laced heroin were sold. The drugs were reportedly linked to a fentanyl overdose death in Lewisville, Texas. Prosecutors presented cell phone messages, social media communications, location data, financial records, and testimony from cooperating defendants to support the case.
At sentencing, Grant and Thompson could face up to life in federal prison, with the final term determined by the court based on advisory sentencing guidelines and statutory factors. A presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office will precede sentencing.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide DOJ initiative aimed at combating illegal drugs, transnational criminal organizations, and violent crime.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, IRS-CI, U.S. Marshals, Dallas PD, U.S. Secret Service Dallas Forensics Lab, Lewisville PD, and the DEA. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Heather Rattan and Eric Erlandson.
