A Memphis man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend in the Mitchell Heights neighborhood.
Police identified the suspect as 33-year-old Corey Boyd, who has been charged with first-degree murder. The incident took place just before 1 p.m. Sunday on Buchanan Avenue near Jackson Avenue.
The victim, Michael Owens Jr., was shot and killed at the scene, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD). It has not yet been announced whether Boyd will be granted bond or when his first court appearance will occur.
MPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
