In a serious breach of trust, Head Constable Khurshid of the Delhi Police Special Cell was arrested for allegedly stealing Rs51 lakh in cash and a large quantity of jewellery from the department’s Maalkhana at Lodhi Road.
Khurshid, who had recently been transferred from the Maalkhana to East Delhi, reportedly committed the theft on Friday night. The Maalkhana in-charge discovered the missing valuables shortly after and alerted senior officials. CCTV footage confirmed Khurshid’s involvement, and he was arrested on Saturday.
This incident has raised concerns about internal security and protocol breaches within law enforcement.
In separate robbery incidents across Delhi, multiple arrests were made:
In Pul Prahladpur, police arrested Sabir and Shahid (both 19) and recovered two gold chains worth Rs5.5 lakh.
