Bucks County authorities have charged a 46-year-old Delaware man with multiple counts of contractor fraud after he allegedly took thousands of dollars from homeowners for hail-damage repairs and never performed the work. John D. Paoletti, owner of Choice Remodeling and Restoration, is now wanted on active arrest warrants in four separate theft and fraud cases.
Investigators believe Paoletti may have carried out similar schemes in additional jurisdictions. Confirmed losses in the current cases total more than $80,000, and officials say there may be many more victims who have not yet come forward.
Residents who hired Paoletti or his company, paid in advance, and never received the contracted work or a refund are urged to contact police or the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office through Crimewatch.
Paoletti faces numerous felony and misdemeanor charges, including:
Home improvement fraud
Deceptive business practices
Theft by deception
Receiving stolen property
Pattern of Alleged Fraud
According to the criminal complaints, Paoletti regularly solicited large upfront payments from homeowners needing repairs or renovations. After collecting the money, he allegedly failed to complete the work—or, in some cases, never began the projects at all.
Among the documented cases:
Morrisville: A victim paid a $12,500 insurance check, but repairs were not completed for nearly a year.
Morrisville: Another homeowner lost over $10,700 after Paoletti failed to repair his roof.
Lower Makefield Township: A resident is out more than $17,500 after paying for work that was never done.
Morrisville: A fourth victim reported losses of nearly $46,000.
When confronted, Paoletti often became unreachable. In one case, he allegedly told a victim he would only issue a refund if they agreed not to pursue criminal charges.
The charges were filed by the Morrisville Police Department (August 2024, November 2024, August 2025) and the Lower Makefield Police Department (December 2024). Paoletti has known ties to Morrisville, Millsboro (DE), and Hockessin (DE). Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact local law enforcement.
These cases are being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Alan J. Garabedian.
