Jones County, NC — Two individuals were arrested after a disturbing investigation revealed that three children were living in dangerous and neglectful conditions. The case began with a domestic disturbance call in Comfort, NC, on March 5, 2025, involving an armed suspect and the assault of a juvenile at a home.
Upon arrival, deputies from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) encountered Shane Ryan Parker and Brittany Elizabeth Fenstermacher, along with the three juveniles. Authorities quickly suspected that the children were victims of neglect and abuse. Investigations revealed that these children had previously been removed from Parker and Fenstermacher’s custody in another state due to similar concerns. Moreover, the children were reported as missing in another county in North Carolina at the time.
After a thorough investigation by the Jones County Department of Social Services (DSS), the children were safely placed into protective custody.

According to the arrest warrants, both Parker and Fenstermacher failed to provide adequate care for the children, including neglecting their nutrition, medical needs, personal hygiene, and education. Additionally, it is alleged that Shane Parker physically abused the children. Specific details include dragging one child by the arm and striking another child in the face multiple times.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case, with authorities stressing that the safety of children is their top priority. The Jones County DSS also played a key role in ensuring the children’s well-being by placing them in a safe environment.
