Columbia Woman Sentenced 22 Years for Walmart Shooting

Whitney McKee convicted of carjacking and firearm crimes

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Whitney McKee was sentenced Monday to 22 years in prison for a 2024 shooting and attempted carjacking at the Conley Walmart, according to the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office.

McKee had previously pleaded guilty in October 2024 to seven felony offenses, including charges stemming from an April 2024 incident at Bass Pro Shops, where she tried to steal a firearm.

On May 5, 2024, McKee fired shots at a Walmart employee collecting carts and during an attempted carjacking. She fled the victim’s vehicle with the firearm before authorities arrested her.

Her 22-year sentence in the Missouri Department of Corrections includes:

15 years for Vehicle Hijacking

7 years for Second-Degree Kidnapping

4 years for Unlawful Use of a Weapon

7 years for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

2 years consecutive for Attempted Stealing of a Firearm

5 years consecutive for Armed Criminal Action

McKee received credit for time already served prior to her sentencing.
