COLUMBIA, Mo. — Two people were arrested Monday following a drug sting operation conducted by Columbia Vice, Narcotics, and Organized Crime Unit (VNOC).
On December 22, detectives executed a narcotics search warrant on Santa Anna Drive after being notified about a FedEx package containing 56.21 pounds of ponchos soaked in methamphetamine shipped from Mexico.
The package was linked to 28-year-old Hector Santiago Hernandez Medina, an undocumented immigrant, and 49-year-old Ebonie Tamara Lewis. VNOC conducted a controlled delivery, removing part of the contents and tracking 11.19 pounds of methamphetamine to a designated location.
Law enforcement arrested Hernandez Medina while he attempted to load the package into his vehicle. A search revealed 253.5 grams of methamphetamine, 62 grams of fentanyl, 14 grams of fentanyl pills, and $2,158 in cash.
Lewis’s residence yielded 27 grams of methamphetamine and a Taurus 9mm pistol.
Lewis was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, Second-Degree Drug Trafficking, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Hernandez Medina faces two counts of Second-Degree Drug Trafficking. Both are held without bond at Boone County Jail.
