DULUTH, Minn. — Cole Allen Saice, 23, has been taken into custody and is facing pending felony theft charges after allegedly stealing hockey equipment worth over $15,000.

On the morning of Saturday, Dec. 28, Duluth Police responded to a report of stolen hockey sticks in the 200 block of West 1st Street. Officers learned that approximately 30 sticks were taken from a bus overnight, causing the postponement of the team’s Saturday night game against Anoka.

Later that evening, officers on patrol in the 100 block of East 3rd Street noticed a man carrying some of the stolen sticks. The individual claimed to have found the items behind the CHUM shelter, but did not match the description of the suspected thief. He was arrested on an unrelated warrant, and several stolen items were recovered.

Further investigation led authorities to Saice, who was apprehended two days later. The combined efforts of Duluth Police’s Patrol and Investigations Divisions resulted in the recovery of most of the stolen hockey equipment.

Saice remains in custody at the St. Louis County Jail, pending formal charges.
