The Coimbatore city police have arrested two history-sheeters, S Saravanan (33) and K Ramkumar (29), for their involvement in a series of bike, helmet, and mobile phone thefts. Police seized 10 bikes and nine expensive helmets from the duo, who are suspected of being involved in over 30 theft cases.

The arrests came after the two were implicated in a mobile phone snatching incident at Pullukadu near Ukkadam. Following a thorough investigation, including CCTV analysis, the police arrested Saravanan and Ramkumar, uncovering their involvement in multiple bike and helmet thefts across various parts of the city.

The accused had been stealing brand-new scooters and costly helmets, altering their number plates, and selling them at lower prices on online platforms. They also sold helmets at discounted rates. Earlier, Saravanan and Ramkumar had been arrested in 2022 for chain-snatching cases and detained under the Goondas Act, but they resumed their criminal activities after being released on bail in December 2023.
