A Coimbatore Judicial Magistrate Court on Tuesday sentenced P. Surendra Dewal (24), a native of Deediya Khurd village in Nagaur district, Rajasthan, to six years of rigorous imprisonment for his role in an online investment fraud worth Rs47.4 lakh.
Dewal was arrested by the Coimbatore City Cyber Crime Police on April 22, 2025, and has remained in judicial custody since then. The prosecution concluded swiftly, completing the case within a month.
Authorities confirmed that the sentence aims to serve as a deterrent against online financial frauds targeting citizens across regions.
