HANOVER, ON – A 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run collision that took the life of Sheila Lamont, 66, on June 11.
According to Hanover Police, Codie Bloom was taken into custody Thursday evening after being spotted by South Bruce OPP walking along McNabb Street in Walkerton. He was arrested without incident.
The charges stem from a collision in which Lamont was struck and killed by a red Chrysler PT Cruiser while walking along 7th Avenue near the entrance to Hanover Park. The vehicle fled the scene and was later discovered burned in the Municipality of Brockton.
Bloom faces multiple charges, including:
Dangerous driving causing death
Failing to remain at the scene of a collision resulting in death
Arson
He was held overnight and remanded into custody following a bail hearing Friday morning. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 27 in Walkerton.
