RUSSELL COUNTY, Ala. — A high school coach has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses following an investigation into his alleged inappropriate relationship with a senior student, according to the Russell County Sheriff’s Office.
Coach Charles Davis, 45, was taken into custody at his Atlanta home last week by Russell County deputies in coordination with Fulton County Police. The arrest follows a report received on February 21, which prompted an extensive investigation into Davis’s conduct at Russell County High School.
Sheriff Heath Taylor confirmed that after reviewing over a year’s worth of school surveillance footage, Davis was placed on administrative leave.
Investigators say Davis communicated with the student through Courtnie Jones, a 25-year-old administrative assistant at the school. Jones allegedly helped facilitate contact between Davis and the student by providing a cellphone and acting as a go-between.
