AZLE, Texas – Azle High School’s head softball coach, Carlos Font Santiago, has been arrested and charged for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student.
The allegations surfaced after a former student filed a report with the Azle Police Department, claiming the relationship took place several years ago. Font, 31, was arrested on Thursday and booked into Tarrant County jail. He now faces a charge of improper relationship between educator and student.
Font has worked with Azle ISD for the past seven years, serving as a teacher and assistant coach in several sports. This school year was his first as the head softball coach at Azle High.
According to district officials, Font is barred from school property and prohibited from contacting students during the ongoing investigation.
In a letter to parents, Azle ISD emphasized its commitment to student safety:
“The district takes allegations of inappropriate behavior between an employee and student seriously, and our top priority is to ensure a safe learning environment.”
Officials are urging anyone with further information to contact the Azle ISD Tip Line. Neither police nor the district have released specific details regarding the alleged relationship at this time.
