GRAND FORKS, N.D. – A 48-year-old man was arrested in Grand Forks after a physical and verbal confrontation with officers on Sunday, August 17.

According to court records, Clint Smith became aggressive after being served a Notice Against Trespass from Northlands Rescue Mission near Kittson Avenue and South 5th Street at around 5:49 p.m.

Police say Smith began yelling obscenities and making obscene gestures upon seeing their vehicle. When officers approached him to explain the trespass order, Smith allegedly lunged at one of them and took a fighting stance. Backup was called.

Smith walked away from the initial scene but was located again in the 400 block of Demers Avenue. Officers attempted to arrest him, but he resisted, pulling away and engaging in a struggle. A takedown maneuver was used to bring him under control.

While being detained, Smith allegedly told officers, “I’m going to kill all of you.” Later, during booking at the Grand Forks Correction Center, he mimicked a gun gesture and pretended to shoot at an officer.

Smith now faces several felony and misdemeanor charges, including terrorizing, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
