ARVADA, CO – A terrifying carjacking incident unfolded in Arvada when a man forcibly stole a vehicle from a woman as she was loading her children into it.

Officers from the Arvada Police Department responded to the scene at 5101 Kipling Street, where a woman reported that she was attacked and pulled from her car by a man who claimed someone was chasing him and trying to kill him.

According to investigators, the woman screamed for help and pleaded with the suspect, informing him that her children were in the vehicle. Despite her efforts and physical resistance—while also trying to protect her 3-year-old child—the suspect forced his way into the car.

Witnesses confirmed the mother’s struggle to fend off the suspect and remove her children from the vehicle. Thankfully, both children were safely pulled from the car before the suspect drove off. The mother and one of the children suffered minor injuries during the incident.

The vehicle was later tracked to 2nd and Ford Street in Golden, where the suspect was seen trying to flag down passing vehicles on Highway 58.

Police identified the suspect as Clifton William White, 55, who was arrested without further incident. He was charged with aggravated robbery and motor vehicle theft, and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on a $50,000 bond after receiving medical treatment.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the carjacking.
