CORBIN, Ky. — A Corbin man, Clifford Smith, 41, was arrested for receiving stolen property after allegedly trying to sell a four-wheeler stolen from victims of the May tornado in London.
According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, Smith attempted to sell a 2008 Yamaha Raptor 50, valued at approximately $1,300. Smith claimed the vehicle had been through the tornado, citing bent handlebars as proof.
Following an investigation, deputies found the stolen four-wheeler at a residence on Robert E. Cox Road. An arrest warrant was executed, and Smith was taken into custody.
He faces charges of receiving stolen property valued between $1,000 and $10,000 and is currently held at the Whitley County Detention Center.
The sheriff’s office reminded the public that thefts, particularly those targeting tornado victims, will not be tolerated.
