Cleveland Cross, Orwin Smith, and Showana Sobers Arrested for Robbery

Couple among three suspects in armed robbery at LQ Supermarket

SUCCESS, ECD – Three individuals, including a couple, have been arrested in connection with a brazen armed robbery at LQ Supermarket on the East Coast of Demerara.

The suspects in custody are:

Cleveland Cross, 28, a construction worker
Orwin Smith, 25
Showana Sobers, Smith’s girlfriend
According to police sources, officers apprehended Cross at his Graham Street, Plaisance residence hours after the robbery, which occurred Friday night. A search of his bedroom led to the discovery of multiple stolen items, including cell phones and a ski mask. He later admitted to the crime and disclosed that he had sold phone cards from the robbery.

Following Cross’s arrest, police tracked down Smith and Sobers at Prince William Street, Plaisance. A search of Smith’s bedroom uncovered a handgun and an undisclosed amount of stolen cash.

All three suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
