CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — A Clarksville driver was arrested last week on charges including vehicular homicide by reckless conduct following a fatal crash on I-24 West on April 9.
According to a Traffic Division investigation, 30-year-old Inderjit Singh was traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour in a Nissan Altima when he collided with a tractor-trailer. The semi-truck was westbound in the right lane and shifted to the left lane to avoid a broken-down vehicle on the shoulder. As the semi merged back into the right lane, Singh’s speeding vehicle struck the trailer’s tires, causing the truck to leave the roadway and roll into the tree line.
Singh’s passenger, 42-year-old Pritam “Peter” Singh, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Inderjit Singh and a 19-year-old rear seat passenger were taken to Skyline Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Singh faces charges of vehicular homicide, three counts of reckless endangerment, and driving without a license. He is currently held on a $58,000 bond.
