CLARKSTON, WA — A Clarkston man has been arrested and a woman remains wanted following a Walmart theft that resulted in the recovery of over $1,300 in stolen merchandise, according to the Clarkston Police Department.
Police arrested 24-year-old Ryan M. Robinson on Friday after investigating a shoplifting incident reported a week prior. Robinson faces charges of second-degree theft and obstructing a law enforcement officer. Authorities are seeking 29-year-old Mercy J. Borgstrom in connection with the same case.
On August 15, the two suspects were seen loading stolen goods into a red 2005 Chevrolet Aveo in Walmart’s parking lot. When officers approached, Robinson fled on foot, while Borgstrom left separately. A search warrant on the vehicle uncovered a large amount of stolen merchandise, Robinson’s wallet, pill bottles, and items linked to a female suspect.
Surveillance footage showed Robinson and Borgstrom selecting items and leaving without paying. The stolen goods, valued at $1,368.21, were recovered and returned to Walmart.
During his interview, Robinson admitted taking items he “needed” but denied Borgstrom’s involvement. Police confirmed Borgstrom’s identity through prior records, noting her involvement in previous incidents.
Robinson remains in custody, while charges against Borgstrom are pending.
