The City Crime Branch has arrested two individuals and seized 360 bottles of codeine phosphate in the Khajrana area on Thursday. The arrested individuals were Moinuddin alias Mona, a property dealer from Koyla Bakhal, and Shawez, a driver from Samrat Nagar.
The police operation began after they received a tip-off about a delivery of codeine phosphate bottles from Dewas. Acting on this information, the Crime Branch team intercepted the delivery near Khajrana Square and arrested the two men.
Moinuddin, who has a criminal history involving cases of attempted murder, loot, assault, and violations of the Arms Act, and Shawez, who works as a driver, have reportedly confessed to smuggling the codeine bottles into the city for illegal distribution.
A total of 360 bottles of codeine, along with a car and four mobile phones, were recovered from the accused. The police are continuing their investigation to trace the source of the drugs and any other individuals involved in the illegal trafficking.
