LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin announced the arrest of Cindy Rios, a 32-year-old woman from Paragould, on one count of Medicaid fraud, a Class B felony.
According to Griffin, Rios is accused of submitting false claims and timesheets for caregiver services she allegedly did not provide. Some of the clients listed in her claims told investigators that they had never received care from Rios, nor had they ever known her to be their caregiver.
“On July 9, Cindy Rios, 32, of Paragould was arrested on one count of Medicaid fraud, a Class B felony,” AG Griffin stated in a press release Thursday. He emphasized the seriousness of the charge, noting that fraudulent use of Medicaid funds undermines public trust and depletes resources meant for vulnerable Arkansans.
The investigation and arrest were carried out by the Arkansas Attorney General’s office, which continues to crack down on healthcare fraud across the state.
