Ciara Picard, 39, a former teacher at Maloney High School in Meriden, Connecticut, has been arrested and charged with five counts of sexual assault involving a former student, authorities reported Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Police said the alleged abuse occurred “years ago” while Picard was employed at the school. She resigned in August 2025, according to official statements.
Meriden police have not disclosed additional details about the incidents, and email requests for more information were not immediately returned.
The alleged victim, now a Maloney High graduate, came forward to investigators regarding the assault. In a statement, police stressed that victims’ willingness to speak up is “vital to accountability and community safety.”
Picard is being held on a $25,000 bond, Meriden police confirmed.
