Multiple individuals have been arrested following a nearly six-month investigation into a drug trafficking organization operating between Cleveland, Ohio, and Carroll County, Virginia, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation, conducted in partnership with the Virginia State Police, led to the seizure of more than 500 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm, and various items of drug paraphernalia. Authorities identified numerous suspects from both Virginia and outside the state.
Among those arrested are Cornelius Charles Chunn, Jodie Michelle Petty, and Marilyn Ann Hawks. Investigators said evidence shows that Chunn and Petty trafficked kilogram quantities of methamphetamine from Ohio into the Carroll County area.
Charges Filed:
Cornelius Charles Chunn faces charges including manufacturing, selling, distributing, or possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance; transporting controlled substances into the Commonwealth; and maintaining a property deemed a common nuisance.
Jodie Michelle Petty is charged with manufacturing, selling, distributing, or possessing with intent to distribute a controlled or imitation controlled substance; transporting controlled substances into the Commonwealth; and maintaining a common nuisance property.
Marilyn Ann Hawks faces charges of manufacturing, selling, or distributing a controlled substance; possession of a firearm while in possession of certain substances; and possession or transportation of firearms or ammunition by a convicted felon.
Officials said the case remains active and has been adopted by a federal agency for further prosecution.
The investigation was conducted by the Virginia State Police Twin County Drug Task Force, which includes members of the Virginia State Police, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsville Police Department, and Galax Police Department.
