Chuco Tango Gang Member Anthony Chavarria Arrested in El Paso

23-Year-Old Suspect Taken Into Custody After Brief Standoff

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A confirmed member of the Chuco Tango Gang was arrested Monday after a brief standoff with El Paso County deputies.

Authorities identified the suspect as 23-year-old Anthony Brian Chavarria, who was taken into custody after deputies received information about his active criminal warrants, according to a statement from El Paso County Constable Precincts Three and Four.

Gang Member’s Criminal History & Arrest Details
Chavarria has a violent criminal history, including:

Aggravated assault with a weapon causing serious bodily injury
Assault family violence, impeding breath/circulation
Violation of a bond/protective order (assault/stalking)
The standoff took place near the intersection of Amy and Montwood by Anytime Fitness. After a short standoff, deputies took Chavarria into custody without further incident.

Gas Station Assault Case
According to the El Paso Police Department, Chavarria was involved in an aggravated assault case in which he pistol-whipped a victim in the face at a gas station on N. Zaragoza on January 28, 2025. Following the incident, a warrant was secured and filed in Municipal Court.

Chavarria was booked into the El Paso County Jail, where he remains in custody as legal proceedings continue.
