Christopher Taylor, a 38-year-old from Mauldin, South Carolina, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to 40 burglaries across 11 counties. His crime spree, which began in 2021 and lasted for about a year, targeted numerous areas, including Calhoun, Newberry, Spartanburg, Greenwood, Laurens, Anderson, Oconee, Edgefield, McCormick, Greenville, and Pickens counties.
The burglary spree ended when detectives from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office used license plate-reading cameras to track Taylor down after a break-in at the Pavon Food Store on Bypass 72. Taylor confessed to the crime and, during questioning, admitted involvement in dozens of other burglaries across the state.
The Eighth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, led by David Stumbo, praised the collaboration between multiple law enforcement agencies, highlighting how their efforts to work across jurisdictional lines brought justice to the victims.
Taylor’s guilty plea and 30-year sentence mark the end of his criminal activities, with authorities lauding the investigation as a model of teamwork and persistence.
