Christopher Rosa Arrested for Attempting to Lure 8-Year-Old in Waterbury

Suspect Charged With Stalking, Risk of Injury to a Minor

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) – A Waterbury man was arrested after allegedly attempting to lure an 8-year-old girl into his car while she was playing outside her home on Columbia Boulevard.

Incident Details
The child’s parent called police after the young girl reported that an unknown man approached her while she was in the front yard of their home. According to Waterbury police, the suspect, later identified as Christopher Rosa, 37, was sitting in his car outside the home, trying to entice the child to come closer.

At one point, Rosa got out of the car and opened the trunk, prompting the frightened child to run inside and alert her parents.

Arrest & Charges
Investigators quickly identified Rosa’s vehicle and tracked him down at his home on Rosengarten Drive in Waterbury. He was arrested and charged with:

Breach of peace

Stalking

Risk of injury to a minor

Rosa was released on a $100,000 bond, and his case remains under investigation.

Residents in the Columbia Boulevard neighborhood, which is home to Kingsbury Elementary School, expressed concern over the incident, calling for stronger protections for local children.

“Hopefully, they can make an example of the guy. If that’s what it takes to keep the kids safe—there are plenty of kids here,” said neighbor Casey Scott.
