WILMINGTON, N.C. – Six people remain charged in a decade-old human trafficking case involving a now-defunct escort service operating under the name Cape Fear Escorts. The investigation has tied the operation to prostitution and trafficking activities across the region.
Originally, seven individuals were charged, but Brandon Hollamon, who faced 17 counts including promoting prostitution of a minor, died in October 2023. His charges will be dismissed accordingly.
According to District Attorney Jason Smith, local prosecutors are moving forward with state-level charges against the remaining six defendants:
Christopher Todd Evans
Christopher Arrowood
Chandler Anderson
Dustin Anderson
Michael Snow
Jesse Bright
Evans has already pleaded guilty in federal court to sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and remains in custody at New Hanover County Jail on a $4.6 million bond, awaiting sentencing.
Smith declined to label any specific defendant as the ringleader but confirmed that Evans is charged in both state and federal courts, while the others currently face state-level charges.
“These cases involve complex digital evidence—phones, social media, hotel records, and online ads,” said Smith, highlighting the challenges in building a strong prosecution.
The District Attorney also encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any signs of suspicious behavior that could be related to human trafficking.
“If you think something’s wrong, don’t walk away. Call law enforcement. Your tip could break open a human trafficking case,” Smith added.
The investigation is ongoing, and no trial dates have been set for the state cases.
