Bradenton, Fla. — A Bradenton man previously arrested for stealing a $9,000 gold chain from Kay Jewelers is back in custody following new charges, police said.
According to the Bradenton Police Department, Christopher Dimastrantonio was initially arrested in early October and charged with grand theft but was later released on bond.
Investigators say Dimastrantonio was rearrested this week on additional charges of dealing in stolen property and defrauding a pawnbroker. These crimes reportedly took place in January but only came to light after his earlier theft arrest.
Police also confirmed he faces two new narcotics charges.
During the initial jewelry store theft, Dimastrantonio allegedly told employees, “You should call the cops,” before leaving with the $9,000 gold chain.
Bradenton Police highlighted the repeat offense on social media, writing, “‘You should call the cops’ — Chapter Two!”
Authorities say Dimastrantonio is being held without bond, and he is also wanted in his home state of Maine, where four probation violation warrants were issued following previous robberies.
The department added that additional charges are pending, teasing on Facebook: “Stay tuned for Chapter Three!”
