OTSEGO COUNTY, NY — The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Christopher DeMarco, 42, of Unadilla, New York, on March 24, 2025, following an investigation into allegations of unlawful surveillance and possession of child sexual abuse material.

DeMarco, a registered level II sex offender, was taken into custody after a search warrant was executed at his residence. The investigation began after reports that DeMarco secretly recorded a teenage victim while the victim was changing clothes in a private room, using a cell phone to capture the footage.

Further examination revealed additional illegal child sexual abuse material stored on DeMarco’s cell phone. Authorities also discovered that DeMarco maintained four internet accounts not registered with the New York State Sex Offender Registry.

He faces several serious charges including:

Unlawful surveillance in the first and second degrees

Failure to notify change of address as a sex offender

Endangering the welfare of a child

The Otsego County District Attorney’s Office has recommended that DeMarco be held without bail due to his history of multiple felony convictions. An order of protection has been requested on behalf of the victim.

The Otsego County Child Advocacy Center assisted in the investigation, which remains ongoing. Additional charges against DeMarco may be forthcoming. He is currently held at the Otsego County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment.
