OMAHA, Neb. — A suspect connected to the theft of thousands of dollars in construction equipment has been arrested, authorities said.
Christopher Batter, 50, was taken into custody on Monday and charged with possession of a controlled substance, theft by receiving stolen property valued at more than $5,000, and a probation violation.
Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies said the stolen items — concrete buggies valued at approximately $12,000 each — were recovered using GPS tracking devices installed on the equipment. The total value of the recovered machinery was estimated at $24,000.
Officials did not release additional details about the circumstances of the theft or Batter’s arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
