WALKER COUNTY, AL — Authorities have arrested two individuals in connection with the theft of AT&T fiber optic cable in Walker County.
Sheriff Nick Smith reported that Christopher Dan Riggs is accused of cutting, stealing, and selling fiber optic wire. Riggs faces charges of first-degree theft of property and first-degree receiving stolen property.
Another suspect, Teresa Fay Riggs, was also arrested and charged with receiving stolen merchandise as part of the same investigation.
Sheriff Smith emphasized that stealing infrastructure like fiber optic cable not only causes significant financial loss but also disrupts vital communication services for the community.
