A 40-year-old Gurnee woman, Christina A. Lintner, was arrested after attempting to rob a gas station clerk on New Year’s Day, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

The attempted robbery took place at approximately 12:25 p.m. on January 1, 2025, at a gas station located in the 36800 block of North Route 83 in unincorporated Lake Villa. Authorities report that Lintner entered the store, implied she was armed, and demanded money from the clerk. When the clerk refused, Lintner attempted to break into the cash register herself but was unsuccessful.

Unable to access the money, Lintner fled the scene in a black SUV with out-of-state license plates. Using Flock license plate reader technology, deputies were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle as a Ford Expedition. A countywide alert was issued, leading Gurnee police officers to locate the vehicle after a Flock camera registered a hit on its license plate.

Lintner was taken into custody near Grand Avenue and Hunt Club Road in Gurnee. She was transported to the Lake County Jail and charged with attempted aggravated robbery. She is scheduled to appear in court, where prosecutors plan to request her detention while awaiting trial.
