by Sophia Bennett

CORINTH, N.Y. — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Christie Newman, 55, following an animal abuse investigation in October.

Newman was charged with two counts of overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals, as well as failure to provide proper sustenance. Deputies responded to a residence on Surrey Road in Corinth on October 18 after multiple reports of animal neglect.

Investigators found that Newman allegedly kept two German Shepherds in unsanitary conditions without sufficient food or water. The dogs were seized and transferred to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter for care.

Newman was taken into custody on October 30 and released with an appearance ticket to Corinth Town Court for further proceedings. Authorities continue to monitor the case.
