Stoughton Man Christian Vieira Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges After Fleeing Traffic Stop

STOUGHTON, MA — Christian Vieira, a 29-year-old resident of Stoughton, was arrested on Sunday, January 26, after fleeing from a traffic stop and crashing his vehicle. He now faces multiple charges related to drug trafficking.

According to Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara, Officer Deion J. Dos Santos observed Vieira’s vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign around 11:43 a.m. on January 26 near Pleasant and Lincoln streets. When Officer Dos Santos activated his siren and lights, Vieira sped off, reaching over 60 mph on Lincoln Street. For public safety reasons, the pursuit was halted, but the officer continued following at a safe distance.

A short time later, Vieira’s vehicle collided with another car at Pleasant Street and Beatrice Lane. Vieira fled on foot from the crash scene, but Officer Dos Santos chased and eventually apprehended him with the help of another officer.

A search of Vieira’s vehicle uncovered 36.7 grams of fentanyl, 18.3 grams of crack cocaine, $3,147 in cash, and drug paraphernalia. Vieira now faces the following charges:

Operating Under the Influence of Drugs
Trafficking in More than 10 Grams of Fentanyl
Trafficking in More than 18 Grams of Cocaine
Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License
Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Resisting Arrest
Marked Lanes Violation
Vieira was arraigned in Stoughton District Court and had his bail revoked due to a pending case in Plymouth Superior Court. He is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial hearing on February 12. Vieira remains in custody at the Norfolk County Correctional Center.
