DES MOINES, Iowa — A man is in custody after a security guard was shot early Sunday morning at a business in Des Moines’ Oak Park neighborhood, according to the Des Moines Police Department (DMPD).
Officers were dispatched to 2809 6th Avenue just before 1:30 a.m., following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Authorities later confirmed the victim had been providing security services at the location.
The victim was transported to MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center for treatment. His current condition has not been publicly released.
Police later identified the suspect as Christian Sanchez Castillo, 26. He was located and arrested around 3 p.m. the same day at 6500 Bloomfield Road.
Castillo has been charged with Attempted Murder and is currently being held at the Polk County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released details regarding a motive or potential connection between the suspect and the business.
