In a targeted drug crackdown, the Sadar police in Palamu district arrested two youths on Monday for possession of brown sugar. The accused have been identified as Chintu Kumar (23) and Atul Ranjan Singh (25). Both were remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
According to Officer-in-Charge Lalji, the operation was conducted following a tip-off. The duo was intercepted on NH-39 near Singra village while traveling by bike from Parwa to Daltonganj. “The suspects attempted to mislead the police but were unsuccessful,” Lalji added.
During the raid, the authorities seized 21 grams of brown sugar, along with the accused’s bike, a cellphone, and Rs 2,660 in cash. Police have confirmed that further investigations are underway to determine if the pair were involved in a larger network.
