In a major breakthrough, the Chikkaballapur police arrested seven individuals, including Imran, Mohammad Mustafa, Bhurra, Anoop Roy, Abhijit Paul, Sakrullah, and Yusuf Khan, in connection with a significant mobile phone theft case. The stolen goods, valued at Rs3 crores, were taken from a container truck transporting over 5,000 Xiaomi mobile phones from Noida to Bengaluru.
The theft was uncovered on November 22, 2024, when the truck was found abandoned near HP Dabba in Reddigollarahalli, and the driver had gone missing. The driver, Rahul, had fled with the phones in collaboration with accomplices. This was reported to the Pere-Sandra police station by Padmanabh, a manager at Safe Seed Courier Limited.
Following an investigation, Inspector Nayaz Baig arrested Rahul on December 10, 2024, in connection with the theft. The investigation was later transferred to the Chikkaballapur Cyber Police Station. With guidance from DYSP Ravikumar K.Y. and Inspector Surya Prakash, the police tracked down and arrested the remaining seven suspects, also seizing the truck used for transporting the stolen goods.
Authorities revealed that the suspects had sold between 300-400 mobile phones in various states, and efforts are underway to block the phones based on their IMEI numbers to prevent further use.
