CHICAGO – A Chicago man, Marcos Fuentes-Robledo, 31, has been charged with felony offenses after a months-long investigation linked him to child pornography uploaded to a social media account, according to authorities.
The investigation began in October 2023 following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a user on a popular social media app who had uploaded files containing child pornography. Through search warrants and subpoenas, investigators confirmed the presence of illicit content on the account, ultimately identifying Fuentes-Robledo as the user behind the uploads.
Fuentes-Robledo met with investigators on April 3, during which he reportedly admitted to accessing and viewing child pornography on his cellphone. Law enforcement officials subsequently seized his phone and conducted a forensic examination. The analysis uncovered approximately two dozen videos and images of child pornography, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Fuentes-Robledo was arrested on April 25, and faces two felony charges:
Dissemination of child pornography (Class X felony)
Possession of child pornography (Class 2 felony)
Fuentes-Robledo was scheduled for an initial court appearance on April 27. Authorities have not provided further details about his legal counsel or court outcome at this time.
The Cook County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the importance of continued vigilance and investigation into cases of online exploitation, urging the public to report any suspicious activity.
