CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Velma Louise Johnson, a 57-year-old woman from Cheyenne, has been arrested on felony charges of burglary and theft over $1,000.
Johnson was taken into custody at her home in the 700 block of East Allison Road at 5:59 p.m. on Monday, March 24, following a warrant out of Laramie County for the charges of burglary and shoplifting, both felonies. Each charge carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
The Laramie County Sheriff’s deputy who arrested Johnson reported no issues during the arrest, and she was promptly taken to the Laramie County Detention Center. On Tuesday, March 25, Johnson appeared in Circuit Court to face the charges.
Her bond has been set at $5,000 cash, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, April 4, at 9 a.m.
